My Beez are Freezing!

Oh WAIT--that's ME

Well, it's mid-winter and I am completely tired of the cold. I mean dreadful, sick to death, well and truly done with the cold. The snow and ice have been so over the top this winter. I just long for Spring. I long to see my bees and to know they are well. I dream of their happy buzzing and the smell of the hive with it's warm propolis and honey odors.
On the daily, I am doing a dance for the sunshine to come out and
warm things up. I worry for my girls out there in their hives. But do I really need to?
I've done all the things. Fed, insulated, checked for queen right status before they ever got buttoned up for winter. Then I fed some more. I treated for varroa. I reduced extra space so that they don't have to heat more than necessary. I treated for varroa again. I remembered to remove queen excluders at end of harvest season. I added emergency food to the top of each hive. Again, I've done all the things I needed to do
prior to the cold weather ever setting in. All I can do now, is wait. Be patient (not so easy) and wait. Spring will come and all will be well.
Don't get stressed
-Spring will be here soon. The pussy willow and purple dead nettle will start peeking thru and we will move into the new season with glee. Then we will wish for a snow day and some rest. Ugh- the circle never ends. Somehow, I'm very glad of it.
Happy Keeping Friends.
